Looking After Your Sapphire Coast Investment Beyond The Basics
Pest inspections might not be the most glamorous part of property ownership… but on the Sapphire Coast, they are one of the most important.
Recently, we encouraged a number of our landlords to organise pest inspections if it had been a while since their last check. While one property did have live termites identified early enough for treatment plans to be put in place, several other properties showed conditions or risk factors that could attract termites over time. Steve from Bega Valley Pest Control was able to walk owners through practical options, preventative treatments and simple tips to help minimise future risk.
Early detection and preventative maintenance can help protect the structural integrity of a home and potentially save owners thousands of dollars in future repairs.
One great tip Steve shared is termites love firewood, and storing wood directly against or near your home is one of the biggest risk factors. A simple way to help reduce the risk is by laying sheets of iron or metal on the ground and stacking the wood on top. This creates a barrier between the timber and the soil, making it much harder for termites to travel from the ground into the wood and eventually toward your home.
Termites are very common in our beautiful coastal area due to the climate and surrounding bushland, but it doesn’t need to feel overwhelming or scary. Steve is incredibly knowledgeable, practical and easy to talk to, and has a great way of explaining things in a calm, simple and manageable way.
This is also just one example of the type of proactive maintenance support we provide our landlords behind the scenes every day. At Kim Poso Properties, we take a lot of pride in keeping ahead of maintenance wherever possible, helping owners protect their investments before small issues become big ones. Our boutique rent roll allows us to stay hands-on, vigilant and genuinely involved in the care of every property we manage.
